The Tallest Trees

A coast redwood in Eureka, CA may soon bear the title of the world's tallest tree. At 378.1 feet the tree towers 70 feet higher than the statue of liberty. This redwood stands higher than the Stratosphere Giant, the previous tallest tree. Scientists have dubbed the record-breaker, Hyperion. I had a feeling this name was taken from Greek mythology. After a little research, I discovered that Hyperion was a Titan, the God of Observation. Makes sense considering how far you could see if you climbed to the top of this new tree.

"We travel the solar system together, trees and men."

You should be more than mildly impressed that me and wauwen hopped the fence in order to hug the third largest tree in the world. It's against the rules.
